Education and Training

JD began his law enforcement career in 1981, when he signed up as a military police officer in the U.S. Army.  After completing his service, he became a deputy with a Minnesota Sheriff's office, working his way through the ranks from patrol officer to Detective Sergeant to Lieutenant in charge of Operations.  In 2001 he moved to Texas and first worked as a  Sergeant-Investigator, with the Texas Lottery Commission - Law Enforcement Division,  before serving with the Dallas County DA's office as a Sergeant-Investigator and working in the Felony Trial Division.  In 2011 he moved to the Collin County DA's office, working as a Felony Investigator in the Felony Trial and Specialized Crime Divisions, ultimately being promoted to Deputy Chief Investigator.  He retired in 2017, becoming a private investigator, and a partner in Blackfish Investigations, where he serves as the Director of Operations.
